Cinema One proudly presents the Cinema One Originals at SM City Cebu, this February 11 to 16, 2012.

At long last, Cebuanos and cinephiles can experience the best of what Philippine independent/low-budget cinema has to offer, especially when four of the films showing this February 11 to 16 are shot and produced in Cebu, Philippines.

African Cinema this SineKultura 2012

USC’s SineKultura begins 2012 with this week’s screenings of select films from Africa.

SineKultura is a weekly cinema appreciation event facilitated by the Cinema Department of the College of Fine Arts and Architecture(CAFA), the University of San Carlos-Cebu City. The event aims to bring cinema awareness and education the the Cebuano audiences.

Screenings are held weekly, every Monday-Wednesday-Friday at 6 P.M. at the USC-CAFA Theater, Talamban Cebu. Screenings are free and open to the general public.

Sinulog Soccer 2012, 1/7 and 1/8

The 2012 Sinulog Football Festival kicks off this weekend simultaneously at the University of San Carlos-Talamban and San Roque Parish (Subangdaku, Mandaue) fields.

A project of the Cebu City Sports Commission and organized by the Cebu Amateur Football Club, over 200 teams from Cebu and other parts of the country will take the field.

The United Football League (UFL) stars will grace the two-day event. The festival will also have a television coverage through AKTV of TV 5 Kapatid network.

The number of participating teams snowballed to 215, 45 of which will see action in the men’s open division.

Aside from the men’s open, the other categories to be contested include the players 6, players 8, players 10, boys 12, boys 14, girls 14, boys 17, girls 17, ladies open, Inter-BPO, and 38-above.

Registration fee is pegged at P700 for players 6 to boys 17 and P1,100 for the men’s open to 38-above.

Sinulog On-the-spot Painting Contest, 12/12

Adepts in the visual arts, prepare your imagination, your brushes, palettes, and blank canvases for the Sinulog Foundation Inc. “On-the-Spot-Painting” competition on December 12 at Fort San Pedro near Plaza Indepedencia in Cebu City.

The competition carries the theme, “Cebu – City of Culture.”

Two Cebu films, produced from movie-making grants from movie cable channel Cinema One, are now currently screening in the capital. These movies proudly made by Cebuano filmmakers and talents will be coming soon to theaters in Cebu. This is something to look forward to!
