USC Cinema holds Presscon, 4/26

The University of San Carlos College of Architecture and Fine Arts (USC CAFA) is hosting a press conference on its upcoming MASTER OF ARTS IN CINEMA STUDIES PROGRAM this April 26, Thursday at 2 PM at the USC-CAFA Theater, USC Talamban campus.

The Master of Arts in Cinema Studies will be offered this June 2012, this coming semester.

The 2012 Bacollywood: Cinemarehiyon 4 will be held in Bacolod City this coming February 8 to 11, 2012.The NCCA sponsored Cinemarehiyon 2012 is now accepting short and feature length Visayan films for selection to be curated by Gabby Fernandez and Maria Victoria “Bambi” Beltran.

For Cebuano films, please submit your films now and be part of the growing pool of talented Visayan Film makers.

More Roll, Less Rattle and No Shake please

Regal Films’ Shake, Rattle, and Roll is an iconic franchise of contemporary Philippine cinema. Generations of Filipinos grew up familiar with the horror film anthology. I could still recall favorite segments in the past, particularly the first SSR 1984’s Fridyider and Manananggal but this was under Athena Productions then.

I never looked forward to watching these films during Christmas where the film is a regular participant in the Metro Manila Film Festival. So why did I watched this year’s installment? Because of friend and filmmaker Jerrold Tarog‘s directorial effort in one of the film’s segments.
