by SineBuano ~ February 28th, 2010. Filed under: SineBuano Features.

Last February 17 to 20, at the Manuel Conde Theater of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the Cinemarehiyon Film Festival was held to celebrate Philippines’ OTHER Cinema, comprised of films and filmmakers outside the National Capital Region.

Cinemarehiyon showcases short and feature films produced by filmmakers from Cebu, Pampanga, Iloilo, Pangasinan, Cagayan de Oro among others. There was even a feature film from Brazil that was also screened.

Bambi Beltran and Ron Heri Tan led a delegation of Cebuano filmmakers to attend this 5-day event. Armed with a cache of film works from winners of the recent Sinulog Short Filmfest and an upcoming martial arts documentary on the Cebuano Eskrima, the Cebu delegation was a tour-de-force for this year’s Cinemarehiyon.

Notably present was the Cinemanila award winner and Cebuano prolific filmmaker Remton Zuasola.

Other than Cebu’s short films, a full-length martial arts documentary “ESKRIMADORS” was also screened in the CCP-Manuel Conde Theater. The creative team of the film was also present to introduce the film and answer questions related to production.
