The group was supposed to present a short overview regarding film production to school children during the event but this had to be rescheduled to a more suitable time and place.

However, the Executive Director of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc.’s Cultural Heritage Program and curator of the Casa Gorordo museum offers an open invitation to collaborate with SineBuano in promoting Cebuano history and heritage through cinematic efforts.

So the group was allowed a site tour to gather visuals to inspire future film projects set in Casa Gorordo. Photos were allowed for SineBuano  and for this occasion only but no camera flashes to preserve certain artifacts, particularly paintings and old photographs.

SineBuano was also there to cover the performance of a unique Cebuano art form, the extemporaneous song-dance art form of courtship called the “Balitao” which was slowly becoming rare.

Centuries before RAP and RAP BATTLES were hitting the streets, the festivals of Cebu were brightened by live performances of the Balitao where songs were made directly on the spot through quick word-play. The subject matter is always a suitor entices a bario lass who seems to play “hard-to-get.”

A short video of the Balitao will be posted here in SineBuano.com so please stay tuned!
