When Andrea’s (Angel Locsin) family adopted Daniel (Richard Gutierrez), it marked the beginning of a close friendship that would blossom into a love that would be tested by time and trials. Can the two lovers remain committed to their promise for each other when Life seems bent to tear them apart?
Reasons why you should watch “The Promise”
The Love scene is particularly one of the best-shot, best choreographed scenes in recent Filipino film history.

Though Richard Gutierrez is his usual wooden self, Angel Locsin fares well in her first mature, dramatic role as a woman torn between family loyalty and her heart’s love.
Lovely newcomer Rhian Ramos is delightful sight on-screen while TJ Trinidad brings an intelligent, subtle charm as he warms his way to Angel Locsin’s heart. These two actors’ performance in this film can educate aspiring filmmakers how sometimes the supporting actors can upstage the leading actors.
TRIVIA
Inspired by the classic “Wuthering Heights”, The Promise is also a remake of 1991’s Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit which starred Richard Gomez, Dawn Zulueta, Jackie Lou Blanco and Michael De Mesa.
The Promise is the 7th and most recent film that love team Richard Gutierrez and Angel Locsin haver worked together.
The screenwriter of The Promise, Raquel Villavicencio, also has a minor role– not a cameo–as Donna in the film.
