SineBuano recommends Cinema One Originals, 2/11 to 2/16

Cinema One proudly presents the Cinema One Originals at SM City Cebu, this February 11 to 16, 2012.

At long last, Cebuanos and cinephiles can experience the best of what Philippine independent/low-budget cinema has to offer, especially when four of the films showing this February 11 to 16 are shot and produced in Cebu, Philippines.

Here are SineBuano recommendations and the NEW schedules of showings (download the NEW MOVIE SHOWING SCHEDULE HERE).

Tickets for the movie showings are priced at PhP100 each!

MY PARANORMAL ROMANCE

This can be considered to be a rare film these days, a Cebuano comedy. Already reviews from the earlier screenings are talking about “Cebuano humor” as a unique brand in itself.

“Relentlessly cute”, according to another movie critic, the movie just simply wants to please its audiences with a good, fun time. This movie is great for couples and group dates.

Featuring original Cebuano music from Cebu’s established and upcoming bands like Missing Filemon and Bethany, prepare to sit back, loosen your belts to free your guts before they bust and have a colorful, wondersome audiovisual adventure, that’s hypernatural.

Just to see the trouble the amazing cast and crew had to go through to make this movie for you, check out this Behind-the-scenes video below.

Now this Cebuano film has no equal, especially in the Philippines. The entire movie’s screening time, all 80 minutes of it, was shot in just one long take. Yes. Just one long take. There are no cuts, and the only editing is done just to add music and enhance visuals.

Set in idyllic Olango island, the film “follows” Terya through her last day at home before she departs for the main island to take a plane abroad. The film has reaped awards both locally and internationally, like the Gawad Urian and the Special Jury Prize in Jeonju International Film Festival and Best Asian Feature in the Jogja – NETPAC Asian Film Festival.
