SineBuano: Dinner and Show at Kukuk’s Nest, March 8
by Diem ~ March 9th, 2009. Filed under: SineBuano Articles, SineBuano News & Announcements.A long week is over for the organizers of the film showcase at One Visayas, held at the Cebu International Convention Center.
A lot of good has happened during this event which makes the presence of Cebu’s independent filmmaking efforts seen and appreciated by audiences.
In SineBuano‘s opinion, a parade of praise is due to the movers and shakers of this week, Publio Briones III and especially Ma’am Maria Victoria “Bambi” Beltran who’s proven herself to be the Muse of Cebuano local indie filmmaking movement. She also hosted a dinner with a showing of past and recent film works from regions, primarily from Cebu last night.
Thanks to her efforts, the National Commission of Culture and Arts are now fully aware of the presence of the movement in Cebu and will continuously offer their information and support (in particular, financial support) to the production of films by Cebuano filmmakers.
The dinner and show also was prime time for the local filmmakers to form new connections and reconnect with good ol’ friends, colleagues and kindred spirits.
Here’s looking towards a great year in Cebu’s Independent Filmmaking Scene!

Asdang Cebu Film makers!
nga gibara sa Ayala kay sex and violence kuno atong mga sine nga wala pa nila natan-aw!
they should look at the violent video games they are selling to the children of Cebu in their video arcade…and the violent and sexy hollywood and tagalog movies they show in their movie houses!
HYPOCRITES…
Me personally have nothing against the sexy European films they show in their annual European Film Fest. Cebu Arts Council can promote these films but not ours…
Hahay!

Daghang salamat Ma’am Bambi for being a “rally point” for Cebuano indie cinema! We totally support you as you have always support in many ways the efforts of the filmmakers here!
Sure ko I can speak for all Sugbuwanon filmmakers and visual artists that we’ll do our best to make you and every Cebuano (yah, maybe even those “Pharisees”) proud!
