Read on to know more about the art of Butoh and the show.
Butoh is the collective name for activities, techniques and motivations for dance or performance inspired by the Ankoku-Butoh (meaning, “dance/experience of darkness”) movement in Japan.
Butoh involves playful and grotesque imagery, taboo topics, extreme or absurd environments. The performances are traditionally done in white body makeup with slow hyper-controlled motion, with or without an audience. There is no set style, and it may be purely conceptual with no movement at all.
