by SineBuano ~ February 22nd, 2012. Filed under: SineBuano News & Announcements.

The Cebu City Public Library, along with newly-formed group “THE BASADOURS” comprising of Friends of the Cebu City Public Library, launches the “I Love to Read Project“, a public-private collaborative project aimed at literacy development this February 25, at the Library premises.

Believing that literacy is the foundation for proper values education, the project seeks to address the fundamental challenges of literacy development in the city.

Taking the lead in this project are THE BASADOURS, a group of Cebuano volunteer ambassadors for reading and storytelling.

The project adopts alternative and non-formal approach to learning through storytelling by employing strategies such as role playing, puppet shows and reading aloud.

Espousing the same ideals that sparked and fueled a people power revolution, of volunteerism and of public-private partnership; the Basadours are a pool of readers, storytellers, facilitators and support staff.

The ilovetoread launching will be graced by Cebu City officials led by Mayor Michael Rama.

On regular weekdays, the library is opened from 8 AM to 5 PM. On weekends the Library is closed but can be reserved for select, special events on literacy, culture and public information.
