Asian Spotlight: Song Hye-Kyo

In the same year, Song Hye-kyo was casted a part in the TV drama Happy Morning but it was in the tragic love drama Endless Love: Autumn in My Heart that made her face and her talent recognized by an audience in Asia.
From then on, she starred in a string of TV series: Guardian Angel, Hotelier as well as the popular romantic comedy series Full House with actor/pop idol Rain. She’s also earned acclaim and awards such as: 2003, 2004 KBS Awards for Best Actress and 2007 6th Korean Film Award for Best New Actress.
In her 12 year career Song Hye-kyo only done 4 films and she’s a well-known face of Korean beauty in many of the country’s commercials.
Recently, John Woo announced at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival that he’s already casted the actress to star in his film, 1949, and will start production later in the year.

- Song Hye-kyo was once a figure skater, knows how to play the piano.
- Among her nicknames are Woodpecker because she talks very fast and Hakkyo (high school) because of how her name sounds when said fast.
- She practices both Christianity and Buddhism.
- Song Hye-kyo has a tic of fiddling with her nose when tense or uncomfortable.
- She’s generally quiet with strangers but chatty when comfortable with friends.
- Among her favorite foods are ice cream and hamburgers, making Song Hye-kyo an ideal celebrity model and endorser of the Mcdonald’s fastfood chain in South Korea.
