This January 28, Saturday, Cebu literary organization Bathalad Inc. hold its 2012 convention at the Marcelo Fernan Press Center in Ecotech, Lahug, Cebu City.

The convention will start at 1 PM and end at 5 PM. All literature students and enthusiasts in Cebu are invited. Registration fee is 100 pesos, inclusive of snacks and reading materials.

This in partnership with the The Arts Council of Cebu, furthering Bathalad’s commitment to preserve and advance Cebu’s local literary arts.

American legend John Ford@SineKultura

John Ford was an American film director, famous for both his westerns such as “Stagecoach”, “The Searchers”, and “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance”, and adaptations of such classic 20th-century American novels as “The Grapes of Wrath.”

This week, University of  San Carlos SineKultura will feature “The Man who Shot Liberty VaLance” and “The Searchers” on Wednesday and Friday respectively.

Mercilessly satirical, Dogma serves as a kick on contemporary dogmatism where faithfuls are often trapped in religious idolatry for reasons sometimes beyond human comprehension. With Catholicism at its core, the film explores Biblical prophecies as the characters grapple with loopholes in a bid to change everything we know about God and religion. The film toggles somewhere in between between “theological rigidity and secular reality”, where most of us are probably situated.

Sinulog Jeepney Reroutes, 1/6

Jeepney routes in Cebu City will be changed as several roads will be closed off to traffic starting 2 p.m. this Friday, 6 January 2012, for the Sinulog 2012 launching/parade.

This Friday, the parade begins from the main entrance of the Basilica del Sto. Niño along Osmeña Blvd. It will proceed to the Fuente Osmeña Circle where it will make a U-turn to take the lane that leads to the gate of the Cebu City Sports Complex in between the Cebu City Central School and Abellana National High School.
